 "Market Ready" Initiative Receives Funding

MFPA will begin planning two tracks of its "Market Ready" program with the help of a $44,500 Cluster Initiative Program planning grant from the Maine Technology Institute. In partnership with Maine Manufacturing Extension Partnership and the Maine Grocers Association, MFPA will prepare the "Food Safety and Quality" and "Manufacturing Operations and Scaling Up" program tracks for food and beverage manufacturers to meet the demands of larger retail, wholesale and distributor customers.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for Maine's food producers to learn about and prepare their businesses for the food safety standards and that customers require", said Mike Cote, Chair of the MFPA Board of Directors. "The Manufacturing Operations tracks will shed light on the best and most efficient practices for food and beverage manufacturers. The Alliance is working to make these tracks affordable and accessible to small business owners, with the goal of increasing their market reach."

The Maine Technology Institute is an industry-led, publicly funded nonprofit corporation that offers early-stage capital and commercialization assistance in the form of competitive grants, loans and equity investment for the research, development and application of technologies that create new products, processes and services, generating high-quality jobs across Maine.
